For me personally, conciousness is awareness about ourselves (myself) and our (my) surrounding environment, and a guidance to treat ourselves (myself) as well as our (my) environment in a non-harmful way.

Hello. This is a very deep and complicated question. Consciousness is what makes humans different to other forms of life on earth. But what about us, our DNA our neurology actually makes us aware/conscious is much more difficult to define. Scientists can say that measuring consciousness in coma patients can be seen by activity in the cerebral cortex in the brain but they are not sure why this activity results in consciousness. A philosopher may have a very opinion on what consciousness is.
