Fire is a mixture of hot gases.A chemical reaction between oxygen in the air and a fuel, such as wood or propane, create the flames that we see. The chemical reaction produces carbon dioxide, steam, light, and heat. If the flame is hot enough, the gases can turn into plasma, another type of matter.
