The oldest dog in the world is thought to be 29 years old, which is pretty impressive. Most dogs, depending on their breeding will live between 10-16 years of age. Did you know that in general, the bigger an animal is, the bigger their life span is. So for example, elephants and whales live for a very long time, whereas insects may only live for a few days. IN the whole animal kingdom the only animal that doesn’t follow this pattern is…. the bat! So now there are scientists who are looking at bats genes, to see if they can identify what genes promote long life and reduce ageing!
