If water levels drop, that could have an impact on the human population as we need water to survive! Also without enough water crops will fail which could result in famine, without water dessertification will increase (expansion of deserts). Land in general will turn to dust..not a happy thought!

Water levels are more likely to rise at the moment due to climate change, resulting in the polar ice caps melting.

If water levels dropped, people would probably reclaim a lot of land, which would be necessary for greater crop growth and farming. With reduced water levels, we would probably have less rain and food production would drop dramatically. Many sea animals would dissapear and the salinity of the ocean might change. Oceans are important for oxygen production and carbon trapping, so with reduce ocean the world would also be warmer. There would be so many knock on impacts!
