Hello! Liquid nitrogen can be use to freeze RNA/DNA or tissue culture samples, that need to be frozen rapidly. This rapid freezing prevent breakdown of the DNA and RNA that make up the cells you are working with or the bacteria you want to test. I receive a lot of samples packaged using dry ice, which is a type of solidified carbon dioxide. It is a cheaper alternative to and less dangerous to transport and prepare than liquid nitrogen. It is also very useful at Halloween as it makes a great mist/creepy fog.
